The Charles formed a collaborative digital partnership with Bloomberg L.P. to redesign the new website of Bloomberg Media, coinciding with the company’s interest in expanding its digital, multiplatform offering.
Part of Bloomberg Media CEO Justin Smith’s 100-day strategy was to overhaul Bloomberg L.P.’s primary media properties. The overhaul also included Bloomberg Media’s B2B Media Kit for Ad Sales.
One of the main goals for the website redesign was to establish Bloomberg Media’s position as an established yet future-focused player in the media industry. The Charles was engaged to create a completely new and interactive website that not only showcased their experience and leadership in data-driven business media, but also the organization’s re-energized approach to their digital platforms.
“Merging historical success with the digital present: a completely new and interactive website for Bloomberg Media.”
Inspired by Bloomberg's commitment to technology and their leadership within the media arena, The Charles’ main strategy was to design and develop a content- and media-rich site that adhered to the brand principles of "Smarter. Faster."
Region-Based Interactive Video
Videos are customized based on IP region and time detection to communicate the breadth of Bloomberg Media's reach without losing its connection to local news and business.
Engaging with Numbers
Interacting with Leaders of the New Economy
Bloomberg Media is unique in that the business leaders they feature are also subscribers to their platforms. Using HTML5 video triggered by mouse rollovers, The Charles designed an engaging way to interact and view video content.
The Charles collaborated with Bloomberg Media's team to create custom "cinemagraph inspired" videos portraying usage of the different platforms. High-speed CDN networks serve up the video at lightning-fast speeds so that the user can click through platforms effortlessly.
Low-Tech Aesthetic Meets
Merging Bloomberg’s historical success with its visions for the future, fonts and colors are reminiscent of the traditional terminal typeface but are integrated with modern tech ingenuity to emphasize their innovative dominance within the media space.
Content For All Platforms
A dynamic site was imperative to accurately convey the wide array of media and content types that make up Bloomberg Media's various platforms.
Discovering the Properties
Bloomberg Media wanted a way to showcase their diverse properties within each individual platform. We built out a slideshow feature that displays these properties and their key stats without having to leave the page.
A User-Friendly Way
to Access the Specs.
The Charles designed and developed a simple way to sort through Bloomberg Media platform specifications, dynamically reorganizing content to display the exact specs that the user is interested in.
Always Mobile First
The new generation of media planners is always on-the-go. The Charles designed an intuitive and user-friendly mobile experience while retaining the relevance and exuberance of the full site.
